Founder and Director
Hello, I’m Dr. Franchesca Capellan founder and director of Family Systems Collective (FSC), a family-centered consulting and applied research initiative dedicated to advancing equitable, humane, and accountable systems for families impacted by incarceration. FSC works at the intersection of leadership, justice, policy, and community engagement, focusing on addressing the intergenerational impact of incarceration through culturally responsive and systems-informed approaches. As the daughter of a currently incarcerated father, this initiative is grounded in both lived and professional experience. I bring a deeply personal understanding of the emotional, social, and systemic realities experienced by justice-impacted families. Let’s work together to change pain into policy.

Patrick Bowie
Director of Family Connections & Engagement
Patrick Bowie serves as the Director of Family Connections & Engagement for Family Systems Collective (FSC), where he leads efforts to strengthen communication and engagement between incarcerated individuals, their families, and the organization. Drawing upon his lived experience and deep understanding of the challenges faced by justice-impacted families, Patrick is committed to ensuring that incarcerated individuals remain connected to their loved ones and informed about opportunities that support family well-being and growth.
In his role, Mr. B helps share information about FSC’s programs and services, supports family enrollment and participation, identifies family needs, and serves as a trusted liaison between incarcerated citizens and their communities. His work reflects FSC’s commitment to recognizing families as essential partners in healing, resilience, and systems change.
Mr. B believes that maintaining strong family connections is fundamental to successful reentry, healthier communities, and lasting systems transformation. Through compassion, advocacy, and relationship-centered leadership, he helps advance FSC’s mission of creating equitable, family-centered solutions for justice-impacted families.
Charisma Gonzalez
Family Engagement Coordinator
Charisma Gonzalez is a dedicated advocate committed to strengthening families and advancing equitable, family-centered systems. Drawing from both her professional and lived experience, she is passionate about ensuring that justice-impacted individuals and their loved ones are heard, supported, and empowered.
Her background includes youth advocacy, community engagement, violence prevention, and connecting individuals and families to critical resources. Charisma believes that lasting systems change happens when families are treated as essential partners in decision-making and are equipped with the tools to thrive.
As Family Engagement Coordinator for the Family Systems Collective, Charisma is committed to building meaningful relationships with families, amplifying lived expertise, and fostering collaboration that drives positive change in communities.

Together, our organizations are committed to strengthening individuals, families, and communities through evidence-informed, family-centered, and positive youth development initiatives.
Through this partnership, Dr. Capellan serves as the Lead Developer and Facilitator of BAMLA’s My Name is Missprogram, a leadership initiative dedicated to empowering young women through mentorship, identity development, leadership cultivation, and life skills. By combining FSC’s expertise in family systems and applied research with BAMLA’s commitment to Positive Youth Development, we create meaningful opportunities that foster resilience, confidence, connection, and long-term success for young people and their families.
